New details emerge on plans for Reba McEntire’s lakeside estate

A Middle Tennessee transplant has officially unveiled plans to transform the former home of one of country music’s biggest stars into a luxury event venue.

Deron Lichte, CEO of Portland, Tenn.-based Food Warming Equipment, has purchased a portion of Reba McEntire’s former Wilson County estate, Starstruck Farms. He plans to transform the property — which includes a 12,816-foot Southern colonial mansion, pool, poolhouse, tennis court, guest house, detached eight-car garage and equestrian facility — into a luxury event venue, according to a news release.

The Wilson County board of zoning appeals approved a plan for an event venue on the site earlier this month, although Lichte’s identity was not shared publicly at the time. His purchase follows the recent sale of the 83-acre property to developer Paul Burch, who landed approval for a 15-home subdivision on a 17-acre portion of the site and relisted the home and a portion of the estate for $2.95 million.

Licthe paid $3.1 million for a 13-acre site, and also has access to 4-plus acres of Army Corps of Engineer land, according to a spokeswoman. The release announcing Lichte’s plans says The Estate at Cherokee Dock’s property “offers approximately 18 acres of Old Hickory Lake waterfront and ample amounts of lush, green landscape” with “various entertaining spaces, both indoors and out, including a lakeside dock and movie theater, as well as on-site accommodations for up to 15 people.”

Lichte relocated his business from Crystal Lake, Ill., to Middle Tennessee in 2013.

“Before moving to Nashville, I’d always enjoyed traveling here for business over the last two decades,” Lichte said in the release. “Making Middle Tennessee my home has been such a wonderful experience, and I now look forward to returning some of the Southern hospitality that has been bestowed upon me since my arrival.”
