Many couples these days are looking for alternative options to a traditional wedding. Tons of couples are now choosing to elope instead! Here at The Estate at Cherokee Dock, we know not every couple is looking for a traditional wedding, there are tons of couples who are drawn more towards something a little nontraditional, intimate, and event adventurous. There are many reasons why elopements have grown popular, but we want to share 3 reasons we know couples are choosing elopements.
1. Something “just for us”
There’s nothing wrong with a more intimate experience, and The Estate at Cherokee Dock agrees! That’s why we offer not only wedding weekends, we also offer elopements, too.
Adventure Instead wrote a blog post about elopements, and they said many couples want to “strip away the pressure, anxiety, and obligation they personally felt about having a traditional wedding — and instead, they wanted a day that was more true to who they were” as a couple. We love seeing beautiful wedding weekends filled with hundreds of loving guests, but we also love seeing our couples have intimate gatherings with just the closest of their friends and family.
2. You don’t have the patience for a long engagement
Some couples just aren’t into the waiting game. A lengthy engagement filled with planning and prepping just doesn’t suit their style. When you know you’ve found the one, sometimes your just ready to begin your life together, and you don’t want to wait. And that’s okay! Andi Mans wrote a blog about the “4 Reasons Why I Decided to Elope,” and she brings up a TON of fabulous points. She discusses how she and her fiance are already in their 30’s, and they “ felt like waiting an entire year to have our wedding just seemed like torture.” They were just truly ready to start their chapter together, and that is just beautiful! Check out the rest of her elopement story over on her blog!
3. You have more freedom to get married where you want
Ever dreamed about getting married somewhere unique, somewhere far away from your average, everyday venue? When you choose to elope, it can give you more freedom to travel for your wedding, especially if you have a smaller budget. If you only have a few people you want to join you, or even if you want your special day to be just you and your husband/bride-to-be, that lessens many of the costs of a traditional wedding, and then you choose a destination that makes you feel alive and free. PLUS, if you choose to elope to a destination location, you can just stay there for your honeymoon! At The Estate at Cherokee Dock, we offer an add-on service to our elopement package, which gives you the option to spend the night at The Mansion!
One of our Cherokee Dock couples, Deborah and Daniel Chao, eloped at our venue in March. This sweet couple and their 3 kiddos stayed the weekend with us after their elopement, talk about a fun crew! Check out some of their pictures from their beautiful elopement below!
