Hi everyone! If you don’t know already, the spookiest of all days is on a Saturday in 2020. One of the most coveted Saturdays for weddings is the last one in October, and next year it is on Halloween. It’s the perfect fall day because the leaves changing colors are at their peak, the temperature seems to be just right, and daylight savings time hasn’t begun, so you get just a bit more time to capture that perfect photo.
We wanted to share some ways to incorporate the darker sides into a wedding. Having a wedding on Halloween weekend may sound a little spooky, but don’t be afraid – there are plenty of ways to make a Halloweekend Wedding a thing of dreams instead of nightmares! Here are a few ways to have create a spooktacular Halloween Wedding… If you dare.
1. Opt for a Dark Color Pallet
Ditch the candy corn color pallet and opt for darker colors: black, green, purple, gold, and/or red. This will provide an elegantly eerie and enchanting look. Here are some color pallet examples:
2. It’s All in the Details.
For more subtly spooky aesthetics, go for Victorian or Gothic fonts for wedding invitations.
3. Finding the Right Venue
Brides wrote an article where they discussed with New York City planner Amanda Diamondstein-Cieplinska of Stellina Events about the best ways to throw a tasteful Halloween Wedding. During the interview, she mentioned one of the best ways to do this is picking the perfect venue. “The venue should exude a feeling of mystery…Historic buildings can provide the perfect backdrop for a Halloween wedding,” Diamondstein said. The building itself doesn’t have to be a spooky, haunted location. Just make sure it has a really interesting historical background to add to the Halloween vibes.
4. Wine Bottle Candle Holders
You can go waxed or unwaxed with these. Either way it will add a mysterious ambiance to a table setting!
5. Try a Non Traditional Dress
There are so many alternatives to a traditional white wedding dress. Stand out from the rest with a wicked awesome black gown. If you’re not feeling bold enough to go with this option, we suggest adding in small dark colored accents to give your dress that Halloween edge! 6. A Unique Boo-quet
Let those beautiful Fall colors pop in your bouquet, and other floral arrangements. Flowers tastefully choose can transform an ordinary wedding, into an awe inspiring, unforgettable fairy-tale that all your guests will be talking about.
7. Pumpkin Place-cards
Look how adorable these little pumpkins are! Super cute way to organize where everyone is sitting at the receptions. You could also try mini witch-hats, or maybe some tiny black cats.
8. Table-setting
Now you need a stunning table setting to put those cute little pumpkins. You can find more inspiration like the photo below by clicking here.
There are endless possibilities when deciding what you want to do with your Halloween wedding. At the end of the day, you can have traditional decor, and just treat it like any other day of the year. We are looking forward to next year and hosting our first Halloween wedding! Whatever the couple decides to do we are sure it will be full of unforgettable moments!
